Intent

Our curriculum nurtures independent, curious learners in a safe, welcoming, and fun environment. We encourage children to challenge themselves, develop independence, and achieve personal goals. Communication and language are at the heart of our curriculum, integrated into all learning opportunities. We promote child-led learning, designing activities that spark curiosity and extend learning. Our rural setting enhances play-based learning, with woodland walks and guided activities supporting children in reaching their full potential.

Implementation

We deliver a purposeful, systematic curriculum, covering all areas of the EYFS. Our approach prioritises thinking, creating, problem-solving, and explorationthrough personalised play activities. Learning is shaped by children’s interestsalongside structured opportunities in Understanding the World, Mathematics, Literacy, and Expressive Arts. Our indoor and outdoor learning spaces are designed for daily free-flow access. The Prime AreasPersonal, Social, and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, and Physical Development—are woven throughout. Strong relationships with children, parents, and the school community inform our planning and provision.

Impact

All children’s development and learning are documented, highlighting their next steps and achievements. Daily communication with parents ensures they are integral to their child’s journey. Through hands-on play, children build confidence, curiosity, and resilience. Our curriculum fosters happiness, diversity, kindness, and community, embedding core Nursery Values. Children apply new knowledgeacross all areas, building on previous learning through exploration and inquiry. We lay the foundation for lifelong learning, promoting risk-taking, perseverance, and a love of learning. School readiness activities prepare children for their next steps, ensuring their enthusiasm for learning continues into primary school and beyond.
